Poultney Higher Edu Scholarships – An invitation to the community-at-large from the Poultney High School Class of 1971 *[*This also includes students in their classes of learning which began in 1958 who graduated elsewhere and continue as friends with many of us.]
The Class of 1971 invite: ALL students of school programs in Poultney, Vermont, as well as family, friends and the community-at-large, to join with the Class of 1971* in giving back to the Poultney community. The GoFundMe appeal will “gift [pay] it forward” and help future graduating senior students in Poultney high school programs pursuing higher learning in any 2-yr, 4-yr or trade school.
Gifts given through this on-line GoFundMe appeal will go directly to the “Morning Star Lodge No. 37, F&AM Memorial Fund”, an educational scholarship fund established by the Lodge. Gifts given are tax exempt under section 501[c][3] of the Internal Revenue Code.
Morning Star Lodge No. 37, F&AM, formerly located in Poultney in historic Stone Church opposite the Poultney High School (PHS), merged with Lee Lodge No. 30, F&AM, in Castleton, Vermont. Lee Lodge officers are stewards of the memorial fund. Mike Roberts, a PHS alumni, is Treasurer.
The Bylaws of the "Morning Star Lodge #37 Memorial Fund, Inc. designate it is to provide scholarship(s) for a deserving Poultney, Vermont graduating high school student (or students).
The scholarship award is based on academics, community service and work ethic.
Many PHS graduates and residents of other schools and communities are and have been members of Morning Star Lodge #37. Historically, high school alumni of the former Troy Conference Academy high school in Poultney also have been. The Lodge has been “giving back” to the community-at-large since their Charter date January 17, 1857. [Most everyone in Poultney know what wonderful things the Shriners do for the community-at-large. Do you know that for anyone to become a Shriner, they must first become a Master Mason in Freemasonry (as a member in a Masonic Lodge)?]
We hope many will join with us in giving back too through this GoFundMe appeal. ALL gifts will be most gratefully appreciated by the Class of 1971 and by Morning Star Lodge #37, F&M.
Thank you.
