Returning to Malawi, Africa!
Donation protected

Hello everyone,
I am extremely blessed to have the opportunity to return to Malawi, Afraica this July (2017) and see the growth of Pothawira Village. A little over four years ago I was blessed to be a part of team and go to Malawi. During this trip I saw several men, women and children that needed basic healthcare. I was exposed to the wonderful, warm and kind-hearted culture that Malawi has to offer, specifically the incredible people. I have never been more impacted by one opportunity than this one. Malawi is truly the "heart" of Africa.
I am returning with a team to serve this community as they open and begin seeing patients in their birthing center. The birth center will provide comprehensive healthcare services for mothers and babies in this population, including, improving access to antenatal care, screenings and medications. This valuable addition will improve quality and access to maternity services.
The goal for this trip is to aid in Pothawira's growth for the birthing center and set it up for future teams to come, including partnerships with midwifery schools and/or residency programs.
To read more about Pothawira Village's Mission and see medical updates visit: www.pothawira.com.
This Gofundme account will help aid me to get to Malawi this year AND help me with medical supplies and medication donation!
Please help me reach the $5,000 goal!!
Financial Breakdown:
$3,000 will go towards my personal trip costs.
All other funds go to medications and supplies
These funds will assist me with flight costs (the main cost), food, housing, purchasing basic medical supplies and medications, and any additional costs that may arise during the course of the trip.
Currently, I am in my last semester of graduate school at Georgetown University for my Master's degree in Nursing for Midwifery and Women's Health. Doing this program I have had to stop working in order to fully invest time in my clinical rotations and classes. I have also had to use student graduate loans in order to pay for school tuition/books/organizational fees, housing and getting to clinical rotations (driving/parking). Having this trip financially supported will allow me to save my loan money in order to take board certification exams, credentialing and licensing, and possible relocation for my new role as a CNM/WHNP.
Additionally, this support it will also allow me to positively impact the goals of Pothawira Village and serve the amazing mommas and babies there!
My team and I would be very grateful for any financial and spiritual support as I embark on this adventure!
Thank you SO much for your prayers and thoughts for us during this trip,
