Hurricane Melissa struck Jamaica with far more force than anyone expected. Entire communities were flattened, and many schools suffered serious damage, including Dinthill Technical High School, where one of the Grade 8 classrooms lost its roof and much of its furniture. The students have already missed valuable class time, and getting them back into a safe, functional learning space is urgent.

My mother and I will be personally supporting the school. There is extensive repair work needed across the campus, but the team identified the Grade 8 classroom as the priority for this fundraiser because restoring this room would have an immediate and meaningful impact on students’ ability to return to their lessons.

The estimated cost to repair the roof and replace the essential furniture is just over 600,000 JMD, roughly 4,000 USD.

I am organising this fundraiser to help meet that cost so the repairs can begin as quickly as possible.

How the funds will be used

All contributions will support the rehabilitation of the Grade 8 classroom at Dinthill Technical High School, including:

• Roof repairs

• Replacement of damaged desks and chairs

• Restoration of basic classroom materials needed for teaching
