Dave Rose has always been a skilled and meticulous collector of vintage cars. From a young age he has had an eye for valuable parts, and the knowledge to fix up a car that most people would overlook, and turn it into a thing of beauty and style. Unfortunately, due to many head injuries, Dave was unable to continue working as a welder and is currently on disability. He has been dealing with the serious health implications from multiple concussions for many years. One of the things that inspires him through his injuries is his passion for cars. Working on his cars is therapy for him.
On May 20th, a fire destroyed the shop where Dave was storing car parts, some of which he has been collecting since he was 17 years old. Sadly insurance does not cover the car parts, which are estimated to be worth $100,000. The monetary loss was a hard hit, but equally devastating was the sentimental loss of rare cars/parts and the diminishment of a hobby which has proven to be very therapeutic for Dave as he deals with his injuries. He is struggling to restart his car collection as well as deal with the aftermath of the fire and sort through the burnt remains for any pieces that could possibly be salvaged. Dave has pulled out some pieces that look like they could be saved. The cost of saving these pieces will be approximately $2500.
There is no way to bring back the cars that were lost in the fire, but we are reaching out to the community to ask for help to get Dave back on his feet again to overcome this tragic loss of a collection lovingly built up over a lifetime. Being able to save any of these special car parts would be meaningful in much more than a material way.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Many thanks and much gratitude if you can contribute to this cause. Every little bit helps.
