Post Surgery & Cancer treatment
Donation protected
Hello, to all. It’s been a couple of hard weeks here lately for my family. My dad was admitted to the hospital April 5th due to extreme abdominal pain. On the 6th he had a biopsy performed on his colon which indicated cancer cells. At this point they had started him on an only liquid diet. The doctors could not tell us at this point what stage his cancer was at until an operation was completed.
He underwent operation on his colon to remove the mass found on April 13th. The doctor removed all traces of cancer mass, but it has already spread to 12 out of 25 lymph nodes. Post op the doctors informed us he had stage 3 cancer and it was very aggressive that he would need chemo/radiation to further combat the cancer and stop it from spreading.
After surgery he was in an alarming amount of pain which indicated something was wrong, but the drs kept dismissing it. His post op care was not up to standards by any means. After multiple CT & X-Rays done the drs still couldn’t find the issue until blood work was done. His blood work came back positive for being sepsis and major bacterial infection.
He had been leaking waste into his own body for 3 days. Once again he had to undergo emergency surgery for a mistake they made. This second surgery has drastically changed his current state of life. It has complicated all of his aftercare treatment for his cancer. He cannot start treatment until he is cleared from this bacteria. He now has a colostomy bag, very little physically movement due to being solely on a liquid diet up until 3 days ago.
This time around his post op care has been a little better due to my sweet mother who has been staying with him day & night. A surgery that was suppose to help him has turned his life completely upside down. He has no current discharge date until he is cleared of this infection.
As many people know being diagnosed with cancer & it’s treatment is very expensive. If you could donate/share that will help us very much, but all we are really asking is for prayers. For him to get out of that hospital bed and be his normal self. To be the best healed version of himself. For God to continue to give us strength to remain positive through all this. My dads faith at the start of this journey is what has kept us going. Thank you in advanced.
