Hi My name is Rachael LeBlanc and I'm fundraising for Brandy Myette and her family.
As some of you know, on March 18th, Brandy went up to Halifax to have a dye test done thinking she was going to head home afterwards when they announced to her that she had a 95% blockage in the widow maker of the heart, that's when the left anterior descending (LAD) artery, the largest of the three main arteries supplying blood to the heart, is almost completely blocked. Brandy also has a disease called Pseudoxanthoma elasticum (PXE) which is a rare, genetic, metabolic disorder characterized by the progressive mineralization of elastic fibers, primarily affecting the skin, eyes, and blood vessels, and caused by mutations in the ABCC6 gene. Because of this, she had a team working on her & because it was a rare case (the blood vessels being so small) it was hard to find good veins to perform the surgery. Fortunately, they have found some in her chest and leg. After extensive waiting, we finally received news that Brandy was booked and had a (double bypass) Open Heart Surgery on March 31st. Brandy is still in the hospital in Halifax and her discharge is still unknown at this time where they are having trouble stabilizing her heart rate.
Brandy has a beautiful family, her husband Gerard who is the sole caretaker while Brandy is in the hospital for their beautiful son Alex, who is 25 and is special needs with full time care. Their beautiful daughter Laura, who is currently in her first year in STfFX University.
If you know Brandy, she is the sweetest, most loving & caring person I have the privilege calling my 'sister'. And as someone who never hesitates to lend a helping hand, always putting others first, I have organized this page in the hope that Brandy & her family can focus on her recovery without having to worry about finances.
Thank~you so much in advance for your donation. It is greatly appreciated. ❤️
