Hello everyone, my name is Shakya and on October 15, 2023 I was involved in a car accident where I was T-boned by a Chevy Silverado. The man who hit me told the police I didn’t stop at the stop sign and I was unable to speak for myself so I am currently listed as at fault for the accident. What started as a normal day for me quickly turned into the first day of the rest of my life. The initial impact propelled my car into a tree and I had to be removed from the car using the jaws of life. I was immediately transported to the nearest hospital. Upon arrival prior to even being removed from the stretcher I began to decompensate and became pulseless. Life saving protocols were initiated followed by a gush of air. I am so thankful there was still breath in my body. I was then rushed to surgery which disclosed a collapsed lung, 6 fractured ribs, and a ruptured spleen. My spleen was removed and my lung was inflated. Due to internal bleeding I wasn’t immediately closed so that the medical professionals could attach a wound vac to locate and stop the bleeding. I also suffered a broken collar bone and a traumatic brain injury. I was slated to be airlifted to a hospital with a Nuero trauma unit. At that moment the Nuero trauma unit didn’t have any beds, before the transfer was able to be completed the brain bleed stabilized on its own. I had 2 chest tubes inserted to remove the blood from my lungs and was on life support for 3 days. Those first 3 days it was really touch and go, there was mention of paralyzation and concerns for other permanent damage. But God !! God and the Angels had other plans for me. I began to regain consciousness and respond to the prescence of my loved ones on the third day. I spent 7 days in ICU and an additional 3 days in general care once I became stable. There is no way for me to properly thank all the people who rallied together in prayer for me, showed up for me, or assisted me in any way but I am eternally endebted. As the elation of being alive begins to fade the complexity of my new reality is being made clear. I was scheduled to start a new job with UPS on 10/23/2023 and am unable to work as I am still recovering and nursing my ribs and collar bone as they heal. As of today I’m 30 days in with no income and have at least 30 to go before I can begin to look for work but life is still in motion as far as bills and all that comes with it. People have been so kind to me and some have asked me what I need or do I need anything but there’s so much I didn’t even know where to start. I have created this fundraiser in hopes of being able to bridge my stability and ability to maintain the needs of day to day life so I can concentrate on healing, recovering and seeking justice. I don’t know how long it will be before I’m able to work and support myself and simply put I know I am going to need help. I am so thankful for my family, my friends, the healthcare staff who treated me, everyone who prayed for me or sent love energy toward me, and anyone who even takes the time to read this I thank you for your time and to anyone who donates or shares this campaign I thank you tremendously.
With all the Love. - Me
