Hello everyone,
In May 2026, EGEA Bochum will organize the first “Post Industrial Weekend.” We would like to invite around 50 geography students from all over Europe to the Ruhr region to discover one of Europe's most exciting regions of transformation.
The Ruhr region is a unique example of structural change: former industrial sites, new parks, cultural venues, and urban spaces tell the story of a region in transition. We want to show international students this not only in theory, but also directly on site.
A highlight of the weekend will therefore be a joint excursion through this special post-industrial cultural landscape. We would like to organize a coach to take us to important sites of structural change in the Ruhr region.
We would also like to use the donations to finance part of the catering during the event so that all participants are well looked after and as many students as possible can take part, regardless of their financial means.
Every bit of support helps us make this international meeting possible and introduces young people from all over Europe to the Ruhr region as a living example of transformation, urban development, and sustainability.
Thank you very much for your support!
Matthias Westermann
