Possum's Battle: Legalities and Livelihood

We were hoping that we would be in a better spot by now, but as they say, when it rains, it rains in the living room, for some reason.

Possum got a notification in the mail that his short term disability is being denied. Why? Because his PTSD happened because of his job, so it should be covered through workman's comp. However, he was previously denied workman's comp because of "preexisting conditions." Basically, workman's comp and short term disability are passing responsibility back and forth to each other, all while not paying Possum or covering his insurance. This while thing has been a complete mess, but at least we've found a lawyer who will help us make sure we get what we need. Unfortunately, that takes time. A LONG TIME.

To add to our struggles, my in-laws are planning to sell the home we've been living in. That means we have to find some place to go, and with Possum being out of work and me not being able to land a job yet, we have absolutely no way to rent or purchase another place. I am actively looking for work every day, but again, it takes time, which is rapidly running out. My mom and dad offered to let us stay at their home as a last resort, but I am trying to stay optimistic that I can find work and find us a rental.

This fundraiser is to help us cover outstanding bills and offset moving costs, as we'll probably have to rent a storage space, regardless of where we end up.

It is so hard to be in this position, and it feels like we are scaling a mountain every day. Sometimes we feel completely consumed by fear and uncertainty, and it's hard to find anything positive right now. Just know that we love and appreciate all of you, and you know that everything we get now will be paid forward when we're back on our feet.
