Positivity for Bella

Donation protected

Hi friends! If you’re reading this - I’d first like to say thank you for taking the time. I’d also like to introduce myself for anyone who doesn’t know me. My name is Ashley and I have a little sister named Isabella. She is 6 years old. She is my absolute best friend and anyone close to me knows that.

Yesterday, I received a heart-breaking call from my mom informing me that Bella was in Ketoacidosis. If you’re not sure what that is, it’s when your sugar levels get too high and your body basically starts shutting down. There is more to it, but this is all new for me to understand. My mom had to rush my baby sister to the hospital to receive the treatment she needed. This was terrifying for my mom and incredibly hard for me to even think I might lose my best friend. Her sugar levels began to go down and so they wanted to rush her to the ICU at a Children’s Hospital to receive the best care she could get.

I cannot ever bear to hear her cry, so when my mom told me she was begging for help because the Doctor’s kept poking her with needles trying to find a vein for IV, I felt helpless. I would do literally anything imaginable to take her pain away. That’s why I’m writing this, so I can help my mom and Bella navigate through their new normal.

A short backstory - this is not mine and my mom’s first experience with Diabetes. My dad was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes as a kid. He ended up passing away when I was 2 years old due to complications with Diabetes. I hate that my mom is now being faced with this same demon that has haunted her for many years due to losing my dad. Which is what makes my little sister developing Diabetes so surreal.

I’m not sure how much medical expenses my mom is going to endure. From the hospitalization to the medications, for life. But anyway I can attempt to take that burden off of her, I will. So if you donate today just know that any amount is appreciated and will bring that much relief for my mother. Positive vibes are encouraged as well.

To my little sister, Bella, keep being brave. You got this best friend!
