Do you want to help make a positive impact for people with dementia and their families? We, like countless others, have experienced the devastating effects of dementia and have witnessed close family members, friends and neighbours succumb to this cruel disease. We want to help ease the burden for Alzheimers sufferers and their families. We are dedicating our Camino Walk to them.

According to the Alzheimer's Association of Ireland 64,000 people live with dementia in Ireland and the numbers are expected to double in the next 25 years to over 150,000 by 2045.

My sister, Ursula, and I are raising money in aid of Western Alzheimers and every donation, however small, will count.

We're aiming to raise funds to help the Western Alzheimers increase capacity in their purpose built centre of excellence which offers “home from home” overnight respite, as well as delivering much needed support services to 5,000 families across Galway, Mayo and Roscommon.

Ursula and I are trekking from Valença to Camino de Santiago from 16-21 October, covering 130km over 7 days. We haven't done much training so are hoping 'youth' and determination will be on our side!
