Please read our last update to learn more about our sweet girl and her passing. We gave her the best possible chance she could have and unfortunately her health deteriorated too quickly. This breaks our heart and you are all the glue holding the pieces together.

Hello from Ralph Kucharek and Casey Callahan. We need your help right now and more importantly, our dear Posie needs all the support possible.

On Sunday, April 16th Posie was admitted to Burlington Emergency Veterinary Services. She showed symptoms of heavy breathing, lameness, and lethargy. Prior to these symptoms that led to the hospitalization, we had taken her to our primary vet several times, but unfortunately there were no red flags during those visits.

Currently, Posie is being treated for Blastomycosis (a severe fungal infection that attacks her lungs), which was just confirmed positive at 6:30 p.m. today, 4/19. She is extremely sick and both BEVS and ourselves are doing everything we can right now to treat her and keep her comfortable. There is a high chance of her making it through, but we are still in the weeds.

At this point in time we have accumulated a very large vet bill, which is currently estimated to be $10,200, which is projected to increase as blastomycosis can increase in severity while being treated. Our hope is to get her the best treatment possible and back home, but unfortunately she may require additional treatment and intensive care.

No matter what, we plan to cover her costs and make the best possible choice for Posie as her condition develops. Unfortunately we still need help for this extremely unexpected event.

Anything helps, even a dollar. If you know Posie you know she is our everything and probably yours too. We really appreciate any support and wish we didn’t have to ask for help but our Posie is worth it - we love you all and Posie does too.
