Hi, my name is Dexter. I'm a 19 award winning filmmaker from London, Ontario, and I need your help to make my next short film, ‘Portrait’.
Ever since I was a little kid I’ve wanted to make movies. When I was 11, I decided to make my own version of The Shining because my parents wouldn’t let me watch the real movie. So I wrote the script, got all my friends together, and filmed it. It was terrible, but it made me realize that even a little kid could make movies, and maybe one day, if I worked hard enough, I could make something that would inspire someone else as much as The Shining inspired me. Since then, I’ve written and directed over 25 short films, started film school, and worked on so many sets I can’t even count. I’m ready to take the next step on my filmmaking journey, but to do that, I need some of your help.
'Portrait' follows the story of a lonely 80 year old man who decides late one night to call a male escort to his home in a last-stitch effort to live the life he was too scared to live. It's a cautionary tale about what it means to give up on your dreams, wanting something you can never have, and how cowardice can change your life forever. My team and I want to make a thought provoking film that makes audiences reflect, and think about their own lives in new ways. We want to inspire you to take that new job, go on that trip, and talk to that person, because who knows, maybe just that one choice will change your life forever.
This film is insanely important to me, and I truly believe in it being something special, and that’s why I’m talking to you today. I need your help to make my dreams, my crew's dreams, and our dream’s of making this film come true. If you want to see 'Portrait' change your life and our own, please look into donating to our film! Thank you very much.
