Help toward Sandra's front door

My friend Sandra lost her car, her ground floor flat, furniture, appliances, photos, etc. The DANA floods destroyed her home, along affecting 200,000 families. I can’t imagine having to start from zero.

The most urgent need is to install a door for her flat. One thing that survived was her microwave. As the door was broken, the microwave was stolen. I connected her with an estate agents that had brand-new furniture as a donation, but without a door? Impossible. That furniture was donated to another person in need.

My goal is clear: to get that door installed as soon as possible!

In situations like this, there can be uncertainty where the funds go. To be transparent, I will share the receipt for the door here.

I wanted to start raising funds before Christmas— But time crept up and these dates are hard for me and my family.

Sandra finds it very hard to accept money, but at this point, that’s what’s needed. I insisted a lot until she uncomfortably said yes.

My name is Teresa and I have been to help clear rubble, mud etc and deliver hot meals at points and also to specific addresses; I have helped move stock and taken sheets etc to different people in Catarroja, Algemesí, Paiporta, Aldaya, Benetússer, Sedavi. I have gone by car, in shared transport, by bus and I have cycled too.

The devastation has affected 200,000 families and volunteers have done a lot of clearing and general help. Now to reconstruct the place, plumbers, joiners, electricians, handymen are needed. And of course, money. I passed a textile place and a photography place that were even with no door and all the stock lost. There are cables hanging off the ceiling, broken tiles on the floor..

Nuestra amiga Sandra, compañera de Batucada, ha perdido todo: su coche, su bajo, muebles, electrodomésticos, recuerdos personales... La DANA destrozó su hogar. No imagino tener que empezar de cero.

La mayor urgencia es instalar la puerta de su piso. Sin ella, no puede aceptar muebles u otras ayudas significativas. Alguien había ofrecido muebles nuevos pero imposible aceptarlos si no existe una puerta. Estos muebles ya fueron donados a otra persona afectada.

He tomado como objetivo ¡instalar esa puerta cuanto antes!

En situaciones como esta puede haber desconfianza. Para ser transparente: en cuanto tenga el recibo del pago de la puerta, lo compartiré aquí.

Quise empezar a recaudar antes de Navidad, imagina qué regalo tan grande será acelerar todos estos procesos. Sandra encuentra muy difícil aceptar dinero, pero a estas alturas, es lo que se necesita. Está preparando una lista de cosas que necesita comprar por si alguien prefiere conseguirlo y hacérselo llegar. Yo puedo ayudar y poner foto-evidencia de entrega.
