Porter v Pancreatitis and Pneumonia

Donation protected
My name is eryn. Porter is my first baby, love of my life, and squishiest squish. He’s 13.5 and has been through a lot in his little life, and right now he’s fighting to survive.

Porter got sick the evening of Saturday December 3 with diarrhea. It lasted all day Sunday and Monday and by Monday evening he was extremely distressed in pain. He was scream-barking for 5 hours straight so after 2 calls to emergency to convince them to let us bring him in, he was admitted to Canada West vet hospital. We didn’t get many answers or recommendations at that visit. They sent him home with anti anxiety medication and an Iv sack under his skin and told me he would have diarrhea for another 2-3 days.

Tuesday morning I woke up to him on his side, with no control of his bowels and in obvious pain. We rushed him to our normal vet who indicated severe dehydration and severe pain. He was admitted again, placed on an IV drip and administered methadone for pain. I received a call later that he has pancreatitis - which can cause extreme organ damage or be fatal if left untreated for too long.

This morning I woke up to Mr. P struggling to breathe. He was brought back to the hospital where he was again admitted; this time with a suspicion of pneumonia and again in obvious pain.

there is nothing worse than trying to provide your dog the best care possible while trying to determine what you can financially realistically do. After 2 days of pancreatic treatment my vet bills exceeded $2K. After todays treatment and the possibility of ongoing treatment over the next few days we may be near $4-5K to give my boy the care he deserves and needs.

I absolutely hate asking for help but I’m trying to do better at that and when it comes to giving him the care he needs i would love to be able to give the go ahead without being terrified i can’t pay my rent or buy groceries for this month. I know it’s a hard time for everyone, especially with Christmas around the corner, so thank you in advance your generosity. Literally anything helps.

Thank you again for any help you are able to provide. I promise to pay it back in whatever way I can
