Portable X-Ray fund
It’s hard to get ahead when so many are just living to survive.
Haiti has been ravaged in recent years with several natural disasters which have devastated the community and overwhelmed hospitals. After a week of orthopedic trauma relief by a surgical team from Cox Medical Center in Springfield, MO, we have identified a specific need that would alleviate a burden on an already overwhelmed OR staff in a small hospital in Les Cayes.
Currently Dr. Hughes Lamy, an orthopedic surgeon in Centre de Sante Lumiere completes all of his procedures by feel, without the aid of X-Ray. After the procedure is complete the patient is carted upstairs where an extremely low quality X-Ray is performed, however the surgery has already been completed. Having a portable X-Ray machine in the room will bring faster speed and incredible accuracy allowing Dr. Lamy better care of a population who desperately need it, as well as providing high quality imaging to an overburdened health care team.
