Portable FAA-Approved Electric Wheelchair

My son, Ryan, was born with a genetic skin condition that has severely limited his quality of life. He is currently mobility limited, has a tracheostomy, catheter and requires about 4 hours of wound care daily. As you can imagine, this has had a significant mental and financial impact for our family.

As Ryan gets older, his curiosity grows as does his desire to see and experience the joys of traveling the world. While traveling itself comes with many challenges, one of the issues we have struggled with is wheelchair travel on the airlines.

A word from Ryan:

“Hi, my name is Ryan Summers and I have a disease called ‘junctional epidermolysis bullosa’ and it is very hard for me to go on planes in order to get to fun vacations and travel quickly. The reason I want and need a travel chair is because it is hard for me to get on a plane with the 450 pound wheelchair I have currently. A travel chair would enable me to be comfortable as I travel. It would be easier to transport and transfer. This chair would make my life a lot easier because currently I have to leave my chair at home, then get on the plane and sit on the seat and when I get to my needed location I have to rent a wheelchair that I can use to move around. These are the reasons that having a wheelchair would make my life more enjoyable and very easier when going on trips.
