Portable Basket Upgrade for Disc Golf Chicago
Donation protected
Disc Golf Chicago in partnership with the Forest Preserves of Cook County are proud to announce the return of the temporary 9 hole courses to Schiller Woods Playfield and Miller Meadow for the 2025 season! The immense positive feedback we received this past summer and fall were instrumental in showing how disc golf improves our communities and naturally fits in with the existing activities of the forest preserve.
This year, our goal is to re-launch both courses simultaneously rather than move our existing set of baskets between locations. To make this happen, we need your help. This fundraising campaign will support the purchase of 9 new portable baskets that will be utilized at the Schiller Playfield course for the 2025 season.
Upgrading these baskets will help advance our efforts with the Forest Preserves of Cook County to make the Schiller Playfield course permanent, a monumental achievement for our organization and one of our core initiatives - making disc golf more accessible to Chicago residents.
During the off-season, we partner with Chicago Public Schools to offer after school disc golf instruction programs to 4th and 5th grade students, where these portable baskets will also be used. Our long term goal is to have the Schiller Playfield permanent course complete by summer 2026 and rotate the portable baskets to the Miller Meadow course.
Our campaign goal is $1500. This will cover the cost of 9 new MVP Disc Sports Black Hole Pro HD portable baskets and new signage for the Schiller Playfield course.
We are partnering with Dellwood Disc Golf to purchase the baskets directly from MVP at a slight discount of $120 each. The remaining budget will be used to purchase new, professionally printed signage, estimated at $46 each.
Any funds raised beyond this amount will be used either to improve the Miller Meadows pilot course or to further pursue permanent course installation goals at these two locations.

What is Disc Golf?
Disc Golf is a variant of ball golf, but with special frisbees or flying discs. However, instead of hitting a ball off a tee and aiming at getting it down a hole in as few strokes as possible, disc golf involves throwing a disc from the tee and hitting an above-ground target in as few throws as you can. Disc golf courses are considerably shorter than ball golf courses, although a disc golf course will tend to cover much more undulating terrain and make more use of natural obstacles along the fairway.
Why the MVP Black Hole Pro HD?
This basket is the highest quality portable basket on the market that offers two sets of heavy duty, weighted chains that rival the quality of baskets on some permanent courses. These baskets meet standard PDGA height and size regulations and offer an unmatched level of portability with 2-person assembly possible in less than a minute.
