Hi my name is LeeShawn Porrata-Jackson and I am starting my own GoFund me account to help with my mounting medical debt and continuing medical care. For those you that know me and my story you are aware of my plight and my continuing struggle to remain positive. You are also aware of how taxing the last two years have been not only on my health and finances but on my family as well. For those of you who are unfamiliar with me and my cause, I have provided a brief bio of who I am and my continuing medical issues.:
BIO:
I am a 34-year-old mother of 3 who has struggled her whole lifetime with illness. During my teen years I experienced multiple mini-strokes and the doctors could not figure out what was wrong with me. I went from specialist to specialist and no answers. As I progressed in age, my health declined, I developed multiple diseases (see below for complete list), I suffered multiple miscarriages and started to gain enormous amounts of weight due to the medication and treatments the doctors where prescribing me. In 2008 doctors @ Munster Community Hospital final gave me a diagnosis of APS (antiphospholipid syndrome) which is a lifelong disease which can become life threatening. However, this diagnosis was just half of my battle. Because of the multiple medications prescribed and other medical issues, I developed gastro-intestinal problems, (see list below) which forced me to endure not one but three gastro-surgical procedures 1) gastric sleeve where I developed multiple issues which required 2 additional surgeries to attempt to fix 2) my intestines had to be removed from adhesions as I continued to develop blockages 3) full gastric bypass (which, I would never recommend for anyone no matter what the issue is) (I still am unable to eat even the 1 ounce of food required, and survive on multi vitamin supplements-which are not covered by insurance and quite expensive). To add to my problems, I experienced an injury from a worker while trying to mount a horse at an Indiana State Park. The girl was not strong enough to help me on the horse but insisted she was and that policy states she and no one else could. Because of my faith in people and trust in the medical community I lost the opportunity to get any financial assistance from the State of Indiana, as my time period to file a claim was 90 days, and during that time period I was continuously told that nothing was vitally wrong with my leg. Since the initial incident, I have had two surgeries on my ACL and will need additional surgeries in the future for this one medical issue alone. I am also in need of special medical equipment that I cannot afford. If anyone has any questions I would be happy to answer them. Thank you for any help and prayers. Help does not have to be monatary, meals for my family are always welcomed as cooking is difficult for me right now due to recent surgery 9/16/15.
