Porkchop the Pig is in need of your help!

Jess Moffo got Porkchop from Kelly's Kids, a farm in Prospect, CT in September of 2020.

Jess is a very good family friend to all of us at Kelly's Kids. She was visiting one day and we just had a litter of piglets born. Jess saw Porkchop and knew she had to have her.

Jess knew Porkchop was special right away and began teaching her tricks at just 6 months old. Fast forward to November of 2023 when Porkchop became certified with the AMPA as a therapy pig.

Porkchop and Jess have volunteered countless hours putting smiles on people's faces. They visit schools, convalescent homes, and fairs all across Connecticut.

Suddenly, last week, Porkchop's hooves started contracting and she was unable to walk. She was rushed to the local vet where multiple tests were run. There were some abnormalities in her blood and she was extremely lethargic and dehydrated. After consulting with the local vet, Jess made the decision to bring Porkchop to Tufts Veterinary Hospital in Massachusetts.

Tufts Veterinary Hospital was able to get better imagery of her legs and more bloodwork. They were able to determine that there was nothing structural wrong with her legs but still are unsure what is causing the contraction of her hooves.

After a weekend at Tufts, Porkchop was able to return home but without answers or a cure. She has a long road ahead of her with multiple follow-up appointments and testing.

Porkchop has put a smile on so many people's faces, it is now our turn to put a smile on hers!
