Porfirio is a pastor in Santa Rosa de Copan, Honduras where he faithfully serves his family and community. God is the center of all he does and he greatly impacts the community around him in Honduras. He is passionate about people and daily he gives up all he has to help those around him.

In November, Porfirio went in to have a mass on his neck biopsied because it was starting to bother him and affect his ability to eat or drink. The doctors came back and let him know that he has Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma.

A few weeks later he went in for more testing and it was determined that he has Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma and it was recommeded that he start treatment as soon as possible.

Every 21 days he will start getting chemotherapy in San Pedro Sula. Once he completes 8 rounds of this, they will re-evaluate to see where he is at. He had his first round of chemo on 1/11/22. It left him exhausted, but hopeful.

Each treatment costs $4,300. He was able to pay for his first treatment, but is unsure at the moment where the rest of the money is coming from. Between the cost of traveling to San Pedro, the treatments and caring for 3 of his 8 children that are still living at home, expenses for him are starting to pile up.
