Ayuda para Noah: Un Guerrero Contra una Condición Rara y Devastadora

Mi nombre es Alex, y soy el orgulloso papá de Noah Martínez Ruiz, un niño increíble que el 30 de julio cumplirá apenas 6 años. Noah nació solo dos días después de mi cumpleaños, y desde ese día llenó nuestras vidas de amor, alegría y una conexión especial con todos los que lo conocían. Su carisma, nobleza, sentido del humor y talento para el fútbol lo hacían brillar con luz propia.

Pero nuestra vida cambió drásticamente el 28 de marzo, cuando una simple fiebre desencadenó una cadena de convulsiones que no se detuvieron. Noah fue diagnosticado con una condición extremadamente rara llamada FIRES (Síndrome Febril de Epilepsia Refractaria de Nueva Aparición). Esta enfermedad autoinmune ataca el cerebro y no responde a los tratamientos tradicionales para la epilepsia.

Desde entonces, Noah ha sido hospitalizado por semanas: primero en México y ahora en Estados Unidos. Ha sido intubado varias veces, ha perdido la capacidad de hablar, de comer y de reconocer a sus padres. Actualmente está bajo tratamiento intensivo en El Paso, Texas, con medicamentos, dietas especiales y monitoreo constante. A pesar de todo, sigue sufriendo descargas eléctricas cerebrales que impiden su recuperación total.

¿Por qué pedimos tu ayuda?

Noah necesita una cirugía cerebral para colocar un neuroestimulador que podría darle la oportunidad de controlar las convulsiones y, con esperanza, mejorar su calidad de vida. Esto es parte de un tratamiento experimental —no garantizado— pero es nuestra única esperanza de volver a tener a nuestro hijo como lo conocimos.

El tratamiento en EE.UU. es costoso y Noah no cuenta con cobertura médica como Medicare. Ya hemos enfrentado enormes gastos en México y ahora en Estados Unidos: hospitalizaciones, medicamentos difíciles de conseguir, una dieta cetogénica estricta, rehabilitación física, del habla, para aprender a comer de nuevo… y esto apenas comienza.

Noah no solo es nuestro hijo. Es un niño noble, empático, divertido, lleno de vida y con un talento increíble para el fútbol. Era el más chaparrito en la cancha, pero también el más veloz. Amaba los videojuegos, las sopas de su abuelita y las entomatadas sin cebolla que hacía su mamá.

Todos los que lo conocieron, amigos y familia, coinciden en una cosa: Noah tiene una luz especial. Y ahora, esa luz necesita de todas las personas que puedan ayudarla a brillar de nuevo.

Help for Noah: A Warrior Fighting a Rare and Devastating Condition

My name is Alex, and I’m the proud father of Noah Martínez Ruiz, an incredible little boy who will turn 6 on July 30th. Noah was born just two days after my birthday, and from that moment on, he filled our lives with love, joy, and a special connection with everyone he met. His charisma, kindness, sense of humor, and talent for soccer made him shine with a unique light.

But our lives changed drastically on March 28th, when a simple fever triggered a chain of seizures that wouldn’t stop. Noah was diagnosed with an extremely rare condition called FIRES (Febrile Infection-Related Epilepsy Syndrome). This autoimmune disease attacks the brain and does not respond to traditional epilepsy treatments.

Since then, Noah has been hospitalized for weeks — first in Mexico and now in the United States. He has been intubated multiple times and has lost the ability to speak, eat, and recognize his parents. He’s currently receiving intensive treatment in El Paso, Texas, including medication, a strict medical diet, and constant monitoring. Despite everything, he continues to suffer abnormal brain activity that is preventing his full recovery.

Noah needs brain surgery to place a neurostimulator, which may help control his seizures and — with hope — improve his quality of life. It’s part of an experimental treatment — not guaranteed — but it is our only hope to bring our son back to the life he once had.

The treatment in the U.S. is incredibly expensive, and Noah does not have medical coverage like Medicare. We’ve already faced overwhelming costs in Mexico and now in the U.S.: hospital stays, hard-to-find medications, a strict ketogenic diet, physical and speech therapy, learning to eat again… and this is only the beginning.
