Hace más de un año, mi mamá comenzó a cambiar; se sentía débil, pero nadie imaginaba que enfrentaría un diagnóstico tan duro: mieloma múltiple IGG en cadenas libres lambda (cáncer en la sangre)

Durante casi 10 meses recorrimos un camino muy difícil, con médicos equivocados, tratamientos innecesarios y mucho desgaste económico. Todo comenzó con un dolor insoportable en su cadera. Visitamos a un traumatólogo, quien tras una resonancia nos dijo que no había nada. Luego otro médico la diagnosticó con osteoporosis, y gastamos mucho dinero en medicamentos como Foreto Colter y otros tratamientos que no mejoraban su salud.

Mientras tanto, mi mamá empeoraba. Estaba agotada, llena de piquetes en los brazos por tantos estudios, sin diagnóstico claro y sin alivio. Hasta que, finalmente, llegamos con un equipo de hematología que, después de estudios específicos, confirmó lo que nadie había detectado: mieloma múltiple.

Desde entonces, su tratamiento ha sido muy costoso. Actualmente, necesita medicamentos como lenalidomida, bortezomib, ácido zoledrónico y dexametasona, que se administran de forma intravenosa y subcutánea, con un costo mensual aproximado de $100,000 pesos mxn.

A esto se suma una nueva complicación: dos fracturas en su columna vertebral que no solo agravan su diagnóstico, sino que le provocan un dolor físico constante e insoportable. Ya no puede caminar, se agota fácilmente, y sus traslados deben ser en ambulancia o silla de ruedas, lo cual también representa un reto físico y económico.

Además de los medicamentos, cada mes necesita estudios médicos, análisis de sangre, orina y pruebas especializadas como inmunofijaciones para monitorear el avance del mieloma. Estos exámenes cuestan aproximadamente $20,000 pesos mxn extra cada mes.

Su columna ha llegado al punto en que los médicos han recomendado una vertebroplastia, un procedimiento en el que se aplica cemento en las vértebras dañadas para reducir el dolor y recuperar movilidad. Esta cirugía tiene un costo aproximado de $250,000 pesos.

Soy hija única y el principal soporte de mi mamá. Ella ha sido mi todo, y ha estado conmigo en cada paso de mi vida. Hoy, ella me necesita más que nunca, y no puedo rendirme.

Sé que en este mundo, a pesar de todo lo difícil que vivimos, aún hay personas buenas y ángeles reales dispuestos a tender la mano. Personas que apoyan a quienes luchamos contra enfermedades tan duras como esta.

Help My Mom Fight Multiple Myeloma – Every Bit Helps

Over a year ago, my mom began feeling unusually weak and tired. What we first thought was something minor slowly turned into our worst nightmare: she was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma (IGG, lambda free light chains) — a rare and aggressive form of blood cancer.

For almost 10 months, we went through an exhausting and heartbreaking journey, seeing the wrong doctors, undergoing unnecessary treatments, and draining every bit of our savings. It all started with unbearable pain in her hip. One specialist told us nothing was wrong. Another said it was just osteoporosis. We spent so much on medications like Forteo Colter, but nothing helped. Her condition only worsened.

She grew weaker by the day, her body covered in bruises and needle marks from countless tests. We had no answers, no direction until we finally found a hematology team who diagnosed the cancer correctly.

Since then, her treatment has been incredibly intense and overwhelmingly expensive. She needs medications like Lenalidomide, Bortezomib, Zoledronic Acid, and Dexamethasone, administered through IV and injections. These alone cost about

$100,000 MXN (~$5,500 USD) per month.

And as if that weren’t enough, she recently suffered two fractures in her spine. The pain is constant and unbearable. She can no longer walk, tires quickly, and now needs to be transported by ambulance or wheelchair, adding even more to the emotional and financial toll.

In addition to her medications, she also requires monthly lab work and specialized tests like immunofixation to monitor the cancer. These tests cost around

$20,000 MXN (~$1,100 USD) per month.

Doctors are now recommending a vertebroplasty, a procedure that injects bone cement into her damaged vertebrae to reduce pain and help her regain some mobility. The surgery is estimated to cost

$250,000 MXN (~$13,900 USD).

I’m an only child, and my mom has always been my greatest support my strength, my safe place. Now, she needs me more than ever… and I need your help.
