Mi prima escribió un mensaje donde explica con más detalle por qué hoy necesitan este apoyo, pero yo quería compartirles rápidamente quién es Alemi más allá de todo lo médico.

Alemi es un niño lleno de amor, curiosidad y ganas de vivir. Es la personita más inteligente que conozco. Con tan solo 3 años, le encanta todo tipo de música y se sabe la letra de sus canciones favoritas. Ama andar en bici y hacer trucos, igual que su papá.

Su curiosidad va mucho más allá de lo simple: siempre hace preguntas, quiere entender los detalles y busca formar parte de cada conversación. No conoce el miedo; enfrenta el mundo con una valentía que muchas veces nos deja aprendiendo a los adultos.

Alemi tiene muchas ganas de disfrutar esta vida, descubrirla y seguir creciendo. Por eso hoy les pedimos su apoyo.

Hola, somos Gaby Zithlalic Martínez Vargas y Jesús Martínez Martínez, papás de Alemi Sebastián Martínez Martínez, y hoy queremos pedirles apoyo para la operación de ojos de nuestro pequeño.

Vivimos en la ciudad de Oaxaca y desde el nacimiento de Alemi nuestra vida se ha convertido en una lucha constante por su salud y, sobre todo, por su visión.

Alemi nació prematuro el 6 de mayo de 2023 con solo 6 meses de gestación y un peso de apenas 980 gramos. A los dos días bajó a 720 gramos y desde entonces comenzó una batalla muy difícil por su vida.

A los 2 meses recibió cirugía láser en ambos ojos debido a la retinopatía del prematuro (ROP). Después de una larga estancia en el hospital, finalmente salió el 8 de agosto de 2023.

Sin embargo, poco tiempo después nos informaron que necesitaba una cirugía urgente porque tenía ROP grado 5. Desde entonces ha pasado por varias operaciones en sus ojitos, consultas constantes y tratamientos especializados.

Primero fue operado del ojo derecho y posteriormente del ojo izquierdo de urgencia en Toluca. Más adelante volvió a ser intervenido del ojo derecho.

En su última revisión, el pasado 22 de mayo, el oftalmólogo nos informó que Alemi necesita nuevamente cirugía en su ojito derecho para cambiar el lente ocular y tratar cataratas. Nos explicó que, aunque la cirugía no es de emergencia, mientras antes podamos realizarla, mejores serán las posibilidades.

El especialista no se encuentra en Oaxaca, por lo que tendremos que viajar a Toluca. Todo el proceso —preparación antes de la cirugía, operación y chequeos posteriores— durará aproximadamente dos semanas. Además de la cirugía, tendremos gastos de hospedaje, comidas, medicamentos y traslados.

Por eso hoy acudimos a ustedes con mucha humildad para pedir apoyo.

Como familia hemos luchado día y noche por él, pero los gastos médicos, cirugías, medicamentos y viajes han sido muy difíciles de cubrir, especialmente ahora que tendremos que dejar de trabajar algunos días para acompañarlo en este proceso.

Help me save my little Alemi Sebastián’s vision ❤️

Hello, we are Gaby Zithlalic Martínez Vargas and Jesús Martínez Martínez, Alemi Sebastián Martínez Martínez’s parents, and today we are asking for support for our little boy’s eye surgery.

We live in Oaxaca, Mexico, and since Alemi was born, our lives have become a constant fight for his health and, above all, for his vision.

Alemi was born prematurely on May 6, 2023, at only 6 months gestation and weighing just 980 grams (2.1 lbs). Two days later, his weight dropped to 720 grams (1.6 lbs), and from that moment on began a very difficult fight for his life.

At 2 months old, he underwent laser surgery in both eyes due to Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP). After a long stay in the hospital, he was finally able to come home on August 8, 2023.

However, shortly afterward we were told that he urgently needed surgery because he had developed Stage 5 ROP. Since then, he has undergone multiple eye surgeries, constant appointments, and specialized treatments.

First, he had surgery on his right eye, and later emergency surgery on his left eye in Toluca. Later on, he underwent another surgery on his right eye.

At his most recent appointment on May 22, his ophthalmologist informed us that Alemi needs another surgery on his right eye to replace the intraocular lens and treat cataracts. Although the surgery is not considered an emergency, we were told that the sooner we can do it, the better his chances.

The specialist is not located in Oaxaca, so we will need to travel to Toluca. The entire process—including preparation before surgery, the operation itself, and follow-up appointments—will take approximately two weeks. In addition to the surgery itself, we will have expenses for lodging, meals, medications, and transportation.

That is why today we are reaching out with humility to ask for your support.

As a family, we have fought day and night for him, but the costs of medical care, surgeries, medications, and travel have become very difficult to manage—especially now that we will need to take time away from work to be with him throughout this process.
