Greg was diagnosed in 2009 with Huntington’s Disease (HD). At that time he retired from working in Alberta and moved back to BC so he could be closer to the University of British Columbia (UBC). He wanted to take part in every study he could, to not only help himself but also others with HD. Greg passed away from HD in April 2021. Prior to passing, Greg made plans to ensure that his brain was also donated to UBC for further HD research.
Greg lived a full life and believed in making sure in taking care of those around him. One of the things him and his wife Irene did, was they helped pay for IVF and genetic testing to ensure that their grandson wouldn’t have HD. This means that only one other generation has to worry about this terrible disease.
Prior to passing, one of Greg’s requests was for the family to ensure that instead of donations to more HD research, he wanted to bring some more love into the world by helping others with the cost of HD genetic testing.
With this in mind, the family has created this Go Fund Me in his name. Building the genetic HD testing component, costs approximately $4,500 USD/family. Every time this amount is achieved, Irene will reimburse the costs to a pre-selected family.
If you know of anyone that would like to be considered for this fund, please reach out via this page.
