Poppy's World Challenge Vietnam and Cambodia

Hi, I am Poppy Barnett and I'm 14 years old.  I have the opportunity to go on a three week expedition, with my school, to Vietnam and Cambodia in July 2022. During this trip we will visit Ho Chi Minh City, trek the Lake Biang circuit, visit Nah Trang, the Mekong delta, Phnom Penh, Siam Reap and Angkor Wat. As well as travelling to new places and learning about new cultures, traditions and ways of life, I will be working in community projects and schools. Whilst living in local communities, I will be doing whatever is needed to hopefully make a difference, such as repairing buildings and building toilets, whilst at the same time learning to understand the needs and issues of those who live there. I have a target of raising 4000 pounds in order to go on this trip. I will be undertaking challenges of my own in order to raise money to get there. For my challenge, I pledge to cycle, Walk and run 462kms, the distance from Ho Chi Minh City to Siam Reap. I will keep you updated on how far I have cycled each week until I reach my target.


On my World Challenge Trip, I am hoping that I can make a difference to others whilst gaining self-confidence, becoming more self-sufficient and proving to myself and others that anything is possible with perseverance and determination.
