Pop Up Drag Queen: The Revival

Donation protected
The Pop Up Drag Queen is a presentation of family-friendly drag for all walks of life. This project puts me in a vulnerable position, and I use that vulnerability to make myself approachable to strangers. I have connected with people from around the world who ask me questions about gender-expression, gender-roles, sexual orientation, transgender issues, and more. I enjoy responding to their curiosity and invite their conversation. My hope is that my performances evoke humanity through queer expression and encourage those who watch to have an open-mind and open-heart.

My style of drag in many cases is simple, such as a sparkly dress and some big hair. Other times it is very concept driven, with characters such as The Bride of Frankenstein, Jessica Rabbit, The Statue of Liberty, and Medusa. I've used this platform to bring entertainment and joy. I've also used this platform to perform political/activism-driven messages.

I believe this performance project is such a gift to myself and the city. For me, this project is my art-therapy and has become an outlet for my emotions. I realize without it how much my mental health relies on this outlet. I also believe this project has a focus of keeping the streets of San Francisco vibrant & queer. I want to put drag on the streets, the same streets where trans/queer folk fought against oppression in 1966 during The Compton's Cafeteria Riot. I like to think those who fought for our rights would see this project as an act of freedom & activism.

Thank you for your time. I'm hoping to raise as much funds as possible to get at least the speaker by October, so I can do my creepy & fun shows for Halloween. I am so grateful for every $ donated! This project is such a passion and I want to allow it to shine & grow as much as possible.

$300 - Shoes

Every pair of shoes I've used has broken in months of using. I've been lucky to get all of my shoes in Goodwill, however I want to invest in shoes that will protect my feet from damage and also have a proper supply of shoes once one of them does break.

$300 - Make - Up

If you've ever shopped at Sephora or Kryolon you know make-up adds up quickly. This would be enough to supply me for the year.

$700 - La Diaspora Festival

La Diaspora Festival its an International Cultural Festival taking 20 artists from the Bay Area to Puebla, Mexico in November/December of 2019. Help The Pop Up Drag Queen book her ticket and share this art internationally. $ used for food as well.
