8/26 Update: Ponzu did very well after surgery yesterday and stayed overnight for fluids because he was very dehydrated. Vet called this morning and said he is cleared to go home so we are taking him home today. Thank you so much everyone for your support

8/25 0600 Update: Vet called and they are taking Ponzu into surgery. Radiologist confirmed a severe obstruction in his small bowel that requires immediate surgical intervention and likely a 2-3 day hospitalization following. They are estimating that the procedure and hospitalization will cost us upwards of $10k which is a significant expense for us at this time. Ponzu is our sweet and spicy one-year-old cat who has brought so much joy and love into our lives. Just last week, he celebrated his first birthday, and he’s always been the heart of our home—snuggling up with me every night and waking me up every morning. Ponzu’s playful spirit shines through as he chases our dogs around the house, and his affectionate nature is clear in the way he gives gentle love bites with his kisses. He and his sister Mirin have truly made a positive impact on our family, and we can’t imagine our lives without him.

Recently, Ponzu ate several feet of yarn, which led to a sudden and severe intestinal blockage. He became lethargic, bloated, and clearly in pain, so we rushed him to BluePearl Emergency Animal Hospital. Right now, we’re anxiously waiting for his imaging and lab results, knowing that he may need surgery to recover. This emergency has come at a difficult time for us, as we’re in the middle of moving across the state. The unexpected cost of Ponzu’s care, on top of our moving expenses, has put a real strain on us both emotionally and financially. I’m deeply worried about him needing surgery, especially since he’s still so young.

We’re reaching out for help to cover Ponzu’s emergency vet bills so we can give him the best chance at a full recovery.
