Ponty Park 213 for Seren Dwt!
Donation protected
The charity of the year for TFW this year is Seren Dwt. This charity is particularly close to our team.
On August 24th the fflecsi contact centre team are walking a total of 213 laps of Ponty Park, with each individual contributing to the overall target.
213 laps to celebrate the 21st chromosome and it's 3rd copy!
Jade - When I first raised the idea of nominating Seren Dwt for TfW’s charity of the year, my manager was incredibly supportive and some of my colleagues even used their own nomination for them.
I found out whilst pregnant that my son, Wyatt, had Down syndrome. He was born in December 2020 and there was no support or signposting other than a poorly photocopied booklet from a nationwide charity and a quick chat with a nurse on the NICU. It was an incredibly lonely experience at such a worrying and unsure time of life.
When Seren Dwt were established in 2022, I was so happy that future parents of babies with Down syndrome were going to be given one of their beautiful welcome boxes with such invaluable information, signposting and support. I have seen first-hand just how grateful parents are of the box and how it had such a positive impact on their journey into parenting a child with Down syndrome.
Along with the welcome boxes, Seren Dwt also provide support for parents to gain access to training. Currently, they are funding for me and so many other parents to undertake Makaton (sign supported English) training. This is such an important tool to learn, as many children with Down syndrome have a speech delay, which can then affect all other areas of their development.
When Seren Dwt were announced as a runner up from the nominations, my colleagues were always checking how many votes they were on and passing the link around to people in the business to gain extra votes for them! It really was such a heart-warming experience seeing them all come together for something that means so much to me and my family.
My manager, Perri, wanted us to be able to do something fun but also inclusive for all the team to add to the fundraising efforts. We are aiming for 213 laps around Ynysangharad War Memorial Park. 213 being significant as Down syndrome is a 3rd copy of the 21st chromosome. We would appreciate any donations that can be made!
Any donations would be much appreciated!
