Beaudin PondKings Story
In Indian Head Saskatchewan in 1997, Norm Beaudin was invited to be a special inductee into the Saskatchewan Sports Hall of Fame. That same year, in the team inductee category, the Montmartre Canadiens of 1955 were also honoured. Starring for the Canadiens were the Beaudin Brothers- Harvey, Alain, Edwin, Claude, Aurel and Bob. It was then that the next generation of Beaudins realized that we had enough solid talent amongst uncles and cousins to ice a competitive hockey team. Pond Hockey that is!
So, in an effort to raise money for Carrie Beaudin, her recovery from a ruptured brain aneurysm, and other brain injury victims, the family created the "PondKings" and staged a charity hockey game in the old Winnipeg Arena against Norm Beaudins’ teammates The Winnipeg Jets Legends and Alumni.
The Adam Herold Legacy Foundation
Adam Herold was an outstanding athlete who was mature beyond his years. After a successful season as captain of the Midget AAA Regina Pat Canadians, Adam was called up by the Western Hockey League’s Prince Albert Raiders to join the team during their playoff run. At the same time, the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League’s Humboldt Broncos called and Adam juggled his time playing for both Prince Albert and Humboldt. On April 6th, 2018, the Humboldt Broncos’ bus was involved in a major accident on the way to a playoff game in Nipawin. Tragically, the accident took the lives of 16 members of the Humboldt Broncos organization, including Adam Herold. He died just six days before his 17th birthday.
Montmartre Arena Upgrades - Montmartre Minor Hockey Day
Also, through this event, The Montmartre Arena, built in the 1950’s, will receive some much need upgrades through the fundraising efforts of the Beaudin PondKings and the Montmartre Arena Association, on behalf of fallen Humboldt Bronco and local Montmartre youth hockey star Adam Herold. Norm Beaudin who also starred and worked in the local Montmartre arena in the 1950’s is honoured to be able to support the Arena upgrades on behalf of the Adam Herold Legacy Foundation.
