The Bedwell Garden is a labor of love that was started in 2008, with one raised bed, and a vision from our very own James McCarron "Mr. Mac".  It has developed over the years into three sections, the Butterfly Garden, the Native New Jersey section and the Liberty Garden which consists of 30 raised beds in which the students grow fruits and vegetables.

In 2017, Mr. Mac won the Hull Award, a national recognition from the Garden Club of America which prompted him to write a proposal to the New Jersey Committee of the Garden Club of America, requesting funding for his next project.  The Club recently awarded Mr. Mac and the Bedwell Garden with an $8,000 grant to install a pond in the garden.  The pond will be a beautiful addition to the native new Jersey section of the garden and will help to enhace the curriculum in multiple domains including science, art, math and special education.

In addition to receiving the grant, Mr. Mac is looking to raise $6,000 to install a fence surrounding the pond, and is asking for donations from the community.  All donors who contribute to this "fence fund" will have their name (individual child's name/family name/business name/faculty or staff name) inscribed on a plaque that will be placed in the garden.  Any money that is donated in excess of the "fence fund" will be used to purchase native New Jersey plants for the garden.
