Hello friends, families, and Cheer supporters! We are overwhelmingly proud to announce that Pomperaug’s D10 Cheer team, which includes athletes from Southbury, Middlebury, Woodbury and Bethlehem between the ages of 8 and 11 years old, have- at no surprise to anyone who has seen them cheer- far outshined the local competition with their athleticism and spirit and ARE HEADING TO AYC NATIONALS in just two short weeks!
We are excited to announce that this is only the second group of Pomperaug Warrior athletes to be invited to the National Championships since 2004! These girls and their devoted coaches have been working tirelessly since early August, cheering four days a week and always bringing their energy and sunny spirit with them to game day to help motivate everyone on the field and in the stands, with Nationals as their goal... now we need your help and support to get them there!
Twenty-one of our Warrior cheerleaders from the D10 team, coached by Yaneli Ferrer and her amazing assistants Sarah Welch, Cindy Michelle, Michelle Manka and Amy Reed, will be competing against teams from across the country for the national title in Kissimmee, Florida, at the Silver Spurs Arena on Saturday, December 11th, 2021. Having seen their talent and experienced their enthusiasm, we are expecting that these unstoppable little ladies are likely to place in the Top 5 and will compete again on Sunday, December 12th. We could not be more proud and just know our girls will shine brighter than the Florida sun!
Please share this campaign far and wide and encourage friends and family to consider contributing to help us offset the cost of the flights, accommodations and the other associated fees necessary to get our girls to the championships, as the window for fundraising from the time of qualification to Nationals is so brief! Each athlete’s flight and hotel cost has been calculated as being approximately $1,100.
As always, we are endlessly thankful for the support of our sponsors, community, and all the other members of our Warrior Family.
