We are all working parents trying to help our kids have a once in a lifetime experience come true! We need all the help we can get to cover expenses and provide this experience for our kids...so please consider donating!! xoxo
We Need Your Help -Why?
We need help with the travel cost for these kids to go to the Nationals in Iowa. This isn’t about winning; this is about the ultimate experience for these children - broadening their understanding of STEM, reiterating teamwork and patience, dedication, meeting other children from across the nation with similar interests, empowering their minds and overall self-esteem.
VEX IQ Robotics is about teamwork - not only driving at the Competitions, but behind the scenes in constructing and programming the Bot. The girls may drive but boys and girls work together to make it all happen.
The Background Story:
During the 2017 – 2018 VEX IQ Robotics season the Pomelo Panthers Robotics Team, which consisted of four girl drivers, competed with twenty-two other elementary schools in a league sponsored by Mulholland Middle School. The team consisted of twelve 5th grade students under the guidance of 5th grade teacher, Mr. Holcombe.
This past Friday, January 19, 2018, the Pomelo Panthers competed in the final robotic Ringmaster Challenge tournament and was awarded first place. The Pomelo Panthers were presented with the 2017-2018 VEX IQ Challenge Teamwork Champion Award trophy.
Due to the success of winning the 2017-2018 VEX IQ Challenge Teamwork Champion Award the Pomelo Panthers will compete in the 2018 VEX IQ Elementary School State Championship on February 25, 2018. In addition, the Pomelo Panthers Robotics Team have received an invitation to compete in the 2018 CREATE U.S. Open Robotics Championship – VEX IQ – Elementary School Division located in Council Bluffs, Iowa on April 2-4, 2018.
