Help Rečica ob Savinji recover after the devastating floods in Slovenia

Spodnja Rečica, a close-knit community in Slovenia, has always been the serene neighbor of the Savinja River.

But on August 4th, 2023, their lives changed forever.

In a swift and violent surge, the river overflowed its banks. The water rose so rapidly and ferociously that families had just enough moments to save themselves and their pets.

Homes were soon engulfed with 1.3 - 1.8 m of water.

In the aftermath, as the water receded, the devastation became evident. Homes were filled with rocks and dirt where floors once existed. The river's mud and silt seeped into everything, destroying furniture, walls, cars, gardens, and memories. All that’s left is the need for extensive repairs - and the invaluable help of a fellow human.

That's where this GoFundMe campaign steps in. Initiated by friends and family who have witnessed the aftermath of the disaster as well as the heart and resilience of this community, we're reaching out for your help.

Your contribution isn't just about bricks and mortar. It's about standing beside a community that, if circumstances were reversed, would undoubtedly be there for each one of us.

***POMEMBNO***: Orodje "gofund.me" ne sprejema donacij iz Slovenskih bank. Nakazila so potrebna preko aplikacij: Revolut, Wise, Google Pay, N26... Pripravljamo še verzijo kjer bodo mogoča nakazila s slovenskih bank.

Spodnja Rečica je ena od skupnosti, ki so jih poplave najhuje prizadele. Voda je tako hitro narastla do 1,3-1,8 m, da so prebivalci imeli samo toliko časa, da so rešili sebe in svoje hišne ljubljenčke.

A razdejanje je postalo očitno šele, ko se je voda umaknila. Neizprosna Savinja je s seboj dobesedno odnesla tla in uničila zidove. Rečno blato in mulj sta prodrla v vse in uničila pohištvo, zidove, avte, vrtove in spomine. Zdaj ostajajo le obsežna popravila - in pomoč sočloveka.

Zato smo mi, prijatelji in bližnji, organizirali to GoFundMe kampanjo. Videli in začutili smo posledice katastrofe, pa tudi širokosrčnost in rezilientnost te skupnosti. Skupaj z njimi se obračamo še na vašo pomoč.

Vaš prispevek ne bo kril samo stroškov za obnovo hiš. Gre se tudi za to, da stojimo ob strani ljudem, ki bi, če bi bile okoliščine obrnjene, nedvomno pomagali tudi nam.

‘’40 let sem vlagal v delavnico in hišo. Delal sem zato da bom lahko na stara leta užival, no, pa je šlo vse v kurac! Posel sem lani predal sinu, ki je sedaj tako kot jaz ostal brez hiše, za po vrhu pa še brez dela. Ne vem kje se lotit in kako se lotit.’’

‘’Ko sem zjutraj vstala da grem v službo, sem videla da je voda na dvorišču, 10 minut kasneje se je dvignila za 1m in voda je bila povsod, komaj smo prišli do delavnice ki ima še drugo nadstropje. Klici na 112 niso pomagali, saj je bilo takšnih primerov kot smo ga imeli mi še 1000.’’

‘’Problem je, ker nisem več mlad, a zgleda bom moral začeti z nova. Niti ne vem kje začet.

V hiši ni ostalo nič, ampak res popolnoma nič drugega kot stene, okna in streha. Preden se posuši bo minilo 3 mesce, potem pa še obnova. Kje bomo spali v tem času niti še ne vem.’’
