Polo and Clovers vet bills after "XL bully" attack

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Angela, and my brothers 2 dogs were brutally mauled by an "XL Bully" dog, whilst out on their nightly walk.
Polo aged 3 and clover 18 months, were being walked by my Sister in law, Joanne when the vicious attack occurred.
Joanne was left screaming for help a few hundred yards from their family home in East kilbride. Whilst waiting on assistance, she was trying to pull both dogs out of reach by their leads and collers but was not able to completely save the dogs from this brutal monster. Eventually when help arrived, both dogs were bleeding from their injuries. Despite 3 women kicking the beast, it was not deterred and tried to force its way into one of the ladies house that they were desperately seeking refuge in. Once the dogs were safe, the injuries were deemed serious, and the family had to rush the 2 family pets to their local vets in the town. They were both given emergency treatment and then had to be sent to the out of hours vet hospital in Glasgow.
Once assessed, clover had several superficial puncture wounds and a hole in her back end, and had to be treated for these wounds, shock and prevetitive antibiotics to try and stop any infection that may have made into her body from the attack dogs mouth and teeth.
Polo's injuries were more severe and were life threatening. She had an emergency operation that night, and then during that operation it was found that Polo's abdominal wall had been punctured through a bite from her back and her intestines had herniated, and had to be pushed back into her stomach. Both dogs have had severe trauma and although both dogs are now on the mend, they are having serious behavioural issues, and wee Polo will be a matter of months for a full recovery. The vet bills are already pushing nearly £5000, and there still can be more, and it has been recommended that they undergo behavioral therapy. The disturbing this, is if they didn't have available credit available on credit card, wee polo would have lost her life that night, now in the lead up to Christmas they are going to have these bills on top of the normal pressures at this time of year, and all because of an irresponsible dog owner.
The dogs are insured, however, this only covers a portion of these costs.
