Pollinate Bow
Donation protected
It is my unfortunate task to say that Phil passed away on July 16th at home with me.
We are still raising money for the Brain Tumour Trust so please feel free to donate as little or as much as you can
Thank you
Morgan
Hi.
We have been together both as partners and married for 22 years and in all that time I have never done Valentine’s Day.
This year I (70 in May) left the house telling my wife (65 in May) I was nipping down to the local shop, she was pleased as she thought I was getting mushrooms for our breakfast.
Instead I came home with an orchid for her.
She was thrilled. She later said she should have known then something was wrong.
We had our 13 yr old grandson staying so he and I went into the garden to finish off the work we had started the day before.
Then while Ruben was in his room and my wife was in the kitchen, I was in the shed where I felt my jaw start to wobble.
I rushed into the house and Ruben got me a chair while my wife, Morgan, supported me.
Seeing some signs of what appeared at the time to be a stroke she immediately called an ambulance.
This was about 5.45, the ambulance arrived at about 8 (we live in the sticks) however, by then the seizure (as we were later to discover it had been) had worn off over 20 minutes, but I was out into the ambulance and taken to Exeter RD&E Hospital where, after a CT scan I was informed at 1 am I had an inoperable terminal brain tumour.
Twelve days later I was in Derriford having said tumour removed! Well 85%.
During those 12 days I did my research and discovered that £450 million is given to cancer research of which only1% goes to Brain Cancer Research.
Now, the interesting this is what happened DURING the surgery. I was woken up so that I could do some tests as the Neuro surgeon removed said tumour.
When I was lying there I decided I wanted to raise money for Brain Tumour Research and the idea came to me to turn the village where I live, Bow in Devon, yellow. How to turn it yellow? By planting sunflowers! I would sell kits for people to plant and grow sunflowers and literally turn the Heart of Devon yellow whilst encouraging pollinators as well as money for a good cause!
After the biopsy I was informed I had a Glioblastoma Grade 4 Wild, ergo terminal.
This made raising the money more important to me.
So I came up with Pollinating Bow.
We have many friends across the country who wanted to donate, and in some cases, join in.
Donations are here on GoFundMe but if you want a kit please join our Facebook Group (Pollinate Bow ) and watch out for information on how to get your kit.
Together we can make Bow Sunflower centre with yellow springing up across the country.
