Polio Survivor, Berta Zamora, Needs Therapy

Dear Friends,

 I am seeking help for my friend , Berta Zamora, age 50, of Nicaragua.

Berta is a polio survivor, and needs physical therapy and a new KAFO brace to improve her mobility. Berta falls very often, and as a result, her knees and legs have broken twice during the past 12 months. Recently, she fell again and hurt her chin.

Her right side is most affected by polio. However, her left side is also affected because most of the effort to walk falls on that side. So now her whole body hurts and is getting weaker. 

Fortunately Berta visited a private orthopedist who referred her to a physical therapist. The goal is to improve Berta's locomotion so that her body gets more balance to prevent future falls. To accomplish this, Berta needs physical therapy and a new KAFO brace. The brace she is currently using is about eight years old. It breaks very often and does not allow Berta to walk appropriately. 

The cost for monthly evaluations and for physical therapy is approximately $300, and a new KAFO brace costs around $3000. Your financial support will be very appreciated for this sweet lady.
