The Cost of the Policy Change

Donation protected
On Thursday, November 5th, my ability to feel accepted in my family and religious community was finally-and-totally stripped from me when the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints released a new policy labeling anyone in a homosexual marriage "apostate" and barring our children from baby blessings, baptism, and other rites.

How this affected me is:
- I'd just discovered I have anxiety and was exploring an effective medicine plan, but hadn't yet found one.
- I'd been seeing a therapist and trying my best to work through uncontrollable feelings of despair.
- I was simultaneously struggling with a work injury and very worried about losing my job.
- I was already struggling to get family acceptance and the release of this policy demolished that.
- I was hoping to have children and raise them in the Church despite the Church's rejection of MY "sin" and the policy demolished that dream.
- I was worried my partner wouldn't stay with me through my emotional struggles.
...
- Finally, I had an emotional breakdown (suicide attempt) and ended up in the hospital for several days.

Thank goodness I had insurance to cover most of the over $15,000 in medical bills. Unfortunately, I am still not back at work full time and the small part I do owe is stuck on my credit cards until I can pay it down... with an impending wedding, and thus impending "Court of Love" and likely excommunication from the Mormon Church, I wanted to reach out for some assistance.

Your love, prayers and well wishes for the future are also very welcome and valuable contributions!
