We are starting this Go Fund Me to help cover the day to day expenses for Police Officer Lafontant, a 23 year veteran of the NYPD and Career Patrolman in the 73 Pct. One of the busiest and perhaps the most dangerous police precincts in the city. Officer Lafontant was serious injured handling a routine call for service when he and his partner were violently attacked by an Emotionally Disturbed Person (EDP). Officer Lafontant was struck from behind with a metal chair.
His partner deployed a Taser on the perp, but it was ineffective. Officer Lafontant was able to pull his service weapon and shoot the perp leaving him DOA. Officer Lafontant was in the hospital for several days in a induced coma to reduce the swelling in his brain. He was release from the hospital and is currently recovering from his injuries at home.
