Polar Plunge for Ruli Rwanda
0% complete
$4,350 raised of $4K
30 donations
Virginia Tech’s Linking Lives study abroad program has been working in Rwanda for 10+ years. In a few short weeks, a group of 12 Virginia Tech students will travel to Ruli, Rwanda for 4 weeks for cultural exchange and community development.
To show our appreciation to the community for welcoming us, we hope to leave Ruli with a donation. The students at the Ruli elementary school currently get their uniforms printed and pressed in the city of Kigali, a 2-3 hour drive away from their village. We are raising money to help the staff at the school purchase a heat press, allowing them to produce their uniforms at school without having to travel. This purchase will also create 2 jobs at the school for members of their community.
If we reach our foundering goal of $4,000 we will all participate in a Polar Plunge in Lake Lugano! All donations will go towards supplies to make this community project a reality. If we exceed our goal, we will work with Ruli community leaders to allocate funds based on most urgent community needs.
Thank you so much for your support! We can not wait to share our experience in Ruli with you when we get back!
