Hi! My name is Pokey, but people call me Schnoodle, Ms. Pokey, Pokester, I answer to pretty much anything. I'm a rescue pup from Last Hope K9 and I've been living in Boston with my mom for 3 years now.
When my mom took me in, I was fighting some eye issues that required her to put drops in my eyes every few hours. She did this every day and still does it for me now. She's a great mom and I feel very lucky to have her! Some days she takes me to her office where she works with undergraduate college students as an Academic Advisor. I love all the pets, naps, and crumbs I find on the floor when I get to go to work!
You're probably wondering where this is going, so let me tell you. I recently got an infection and had to get a lot of teeth pulled. Just when I was getting over that, wham, my ticker starts to feel funny. I started losing my kibble late at night, having trouble breathing, and making noises to tell my mom I did NOT feel good. My mom immediately took me to Angell's emergency clinic. Once there they realized I was in heart failure, had fluid in my lungs, and an enlarged heart valve. I've been put into an oxygen cage and am on meds to reduce the fluid. I have meetings with a bunch of specialized animal doctors and they are hopeful I'll recover.
Where do you come in? Well, if you're reading this, you probably know my mom. You also probably know that she would do anything for me, like put me in an oxygen cage. I know this visit is going to come with a bill and I'd like to try to help cover some of that bill for my mom. Anything you can donate will go directly to my Angell bill and anything extra will get donated to Angell and all the amazing dogs, cats, bunnies, and pets in need there.
