Pokaiks: the Children Orange Shirt Day Event YYC

Donation protected

Hi all,

I am fundraising on behalf the CIF Reconciliation Society. CIF Reconciliation Society is a small grass-roots non-profit organization. We are located in Mohkinstsis - Calgary, Alberta.

We are in the midst of planning our third annual event scheduled on September 25, 2021 and held on an annual basis to coincide with Truth and Reconciliation Day (Orange Shirt Day – Sept 30th). It starts with a memorial walk down Stephen Ave. As a group we will meet at Olympic Plaza where we have a full set of Elders, Speakers, Drummers, Performers and more planned.

This years’ event is much more significant to our community from the recent unearthing of thousands of children from different Residential Schools in the country. In solidarity for the children who weren’t able to go home, we bring back their voices so they may be heard. We don’t take their suffering for granted. We are asking you to help make sure that these children, residential school survivors and their children are not forgotten. We know that more children will be found in the coming years and we are asking you to grieve with us, walk with us and help us to fund projects like this one.

We aim to help Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples to learn about current issues and to start collaborating on solutions by building awareness and relationships, dispelling stereotypes, and generating appreciation to support our Indigenous peoples. We are better together, and it’s through events like ours, that we can build bridges and unite our Indigenous and non-Indigenous communities of Calgary.

This is where we need your help! We are a group of passionate people making this happen on a volunteer basis and donate our time because we believe in education, and reconciliation through action. We need your support to make the world a better place for all children by ensuring that the lost lives are not forgotten and this significant event continues to happen. We heavily rely on your generosity to make this event free and accessible to all. Unfortunately, we have yet to meet our funding goal and that’s why we are reaching out to our community!

We believe in rewarding our community when we can.

When we meet our goal, we will have a draw. In this draw we have three prizes!

1. Orange Shirt by Colouring it Forward

2. Orange Hoodie by Colouring it Forward

3. Painting by Nathan P. Meguinis - titled The Otter Family.

Every donation counts and we are grateful for your support.

If you see this and feel as if your business or employer would want to help me! Please reach out of the official sponsorship letter.

With love,

The folks from the CIF Reconciliation Society
