From the raw beauty of the poems of Gazan poets, Molly Pruit offers this concert of poems. It is offered as a way to heighten awareness and tenderness for Gaza and the plight of the Palestinian. When the poetry of Gazan poets is spoken, it brings alive their anguish and ache for peace in the midst of the unutterable, their beauty and depth, their resilience. In times like these, when the darkness is great, poetry has the power to cross a million borders. Poetry can link us one to another, to realms beyond ourselves, and to a knowing beyond our usual understanding. When we sit together in community and poetry is spoken, we join together in common fields of emotion, in common images, in common visions. We sit in a kind of communion with one another, holding all the beauty and the unspeakable losses, in the common soil of our hearts broken open by the poets. All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly to Gaza Poets Society and HEAL Palestine.
