Hi everyone,

a lot of you may know my family who live here in Sisters. Gracelyn, Elsie, and Katherine Martinez are my little sisters who are raised by my extremely hardworking and compassionate mother, Hannah Martinez. Hannah bravely escaped her relationship with my abusive and alcoholic father in 2022, and moved the girls to Oregon where she could have the support of my aunt and my older sister and I while she regained her footing. She is the sole provider for my little sisters as my dad refuses to pay child support, and is working hard everyday to not only meet their basic needs, but also to bring them joy.

In 2023, shortly after my mom was able to get a place of her own for her and the girls, Gracelyn brought home a little orange kitten that was in need of a loving home. After some (very minimal) convincing from all 3 girls, the little orange kitten became a new member of the Martinez family. (My mom has never been one to turn away animals) His name is Poe, but is better known as Posie. Poe became a beloved friend to everyone that knows him, especially my youngest sister Katherine who struggles with anxiety and depression. He is her very best companion and a certified emotional support animal.

On Friday, Poe became lethargic and was vomiting all day, so my mom even being out of town, had him rushed to a veterinarian. She doesn’t see euthanasia as an option considering Poe’s important role in her daughter’s mental health, and with him being only 2 years old, he has so much life ahead of him. He is currently in need of surgery to remove the blockage from his intestines that will otherwise be fatal, and we are all very hopeful to get him back home. He has already accumulated a very hefty medical bill, and any support is greatly appreciated by all of us.
