P.O.C. Clothing Crowdfunding Campaign

Donation protected

P.O.C. aims to educate, generate conversation, and create opportunities for people to examine their conscious behavior on topics primarily related to race and discrimination, as well as many other social issues. By wearing P.O.C. Clothing, one is able to embrace their racial identity, promote it, encourage it, and bring awareness to the stereotypes and discrimination that people of color face every day.

The underlying sentiments of People of Colour Clothing are confidence, community, and culture.

CONFIDENCE

To empower people of color, by enabling them to tap into undiscovered confidence when wearing People of Colour clothing.

COMMUNITY

To create and build a community of individuals (to include allies) who are committed to the equity of people of color.

CULTURE

To develop a culture that celebrates differences and gives voice to people of color and their heritage.

Company Goals:

Below is the outlook for People of Colour Clothing. Your contribution to the People of Color Crowdfunding campaign will make a direct impact on the development of the goals below. We're aiming to officially launch August 2019.

Immediate Goals & Priorities:

In the immediate future, I want to run a successful POC crowdfunding campaign in order to develop inventory and improve resources.

Build up inventory-

The method into which clothing is being produced is no longer sustainable for the demand level. This demand level has been accomplished without a website or proper promotion. This one of the top priorities in building up to official brand launch.

Strengthen Brand following on all platforms-

Thus far, People of Colour Clothing has been able to gain an engaged following in spite of throttling exposure to minimize demand while managing university studies. During the period of inventory developed, raised funds will be allocated to paid advertising and sponsorships to increase consumer base on all social media platforms

Launch website-

The People of Colour Clothing website has been created but has remained locked while I’ve pursued my degree. Seek preview of the website is available at:

Distribution Equipment

The current distribution equipment needs to be improved in order to meet the anticipated demand upon the official launch of the People of Colour Clothing Brand.

Tabling Supplies

The acquisition of tabling supplies is needed for future events, expos, and conventions to increase exposure and present a level of professionalism. Raised funds will be dedicated in this area.

Shelving

Proper shelving is needed to maintain and store the inventory that we intend to develop.

Equipment and supplies

Additional items need to be purchased in order to meet the demands of an expanding organization. Funds will be allocated to improving the resources available to the POC multimedia team, cash register, clothing racks, office equipment, etc.

TEAM

One of my most important goals is putting my team in position for industry exposure and opportunity. The multimedia team I’ve been able to build over the last year is extremely talented and passionate about their respective craft! To achieve my goal of industry exposure for each team member, I’ve developed “exposure projects” for each member.

Projects include:

Graphic Designer- XXXXXX XXXX Series and Comic Book Series
Videographer- Mini-documentaries, video podcast and eventual funding for a complete documentary
Photographer & Creative Director- XXXXX Book and XXXXXXX

Other Projects Include:
Podcast Series
Blog (aspiring writers would be able to submit their work for exposure)
Video Series

POPUP SHOPS:

(PNW PEOPLE OF COLOUR CLOTHING TAKEOVER)

In an attempt to gain traction and broaden the P.O.C. network, I’m planning to table events in the Portland area. Events include Last Thursday, Portland Night Market, etc. There are also aspirations for hosting a series of pop-up events in Portland, Seattle, Corvallis, and Eugene.

These are markets crucial in establishing our roots in the PNW and further establishing the P.O.C. movement.

Furthermore, an important element of the People of Color Clothing brand is the ability to create community. The community provides a sense of comfort and belonging. In addition to establishing roots in the PNW, I have aspirations of organizing "POC Merch Tours". These tours will provide the opportunity for consumers to Directly connect with our brand outside of the PNW area. For example, the POC team would organize a tour route that would host events in Sacramento, Oakland, and San Francisco. Not only would we sell our merchandise at these events, but we’d also provide local talent a platform for exposure through our platform.

Brick-and-Mortar

After establishing a financial foundation, brand sustainability, and a stout consumer base—a storefront is apropos. I feel Portland, Oregon is the perfect fit for the P.O.C. Clothing Brand. With the city’s lack of diversity and accelerated gentrification efforts, our eventual storefront can be seen as a refuge. In addition to selling products, our location would be used to create community throughout the entire POC demographic to include allies.

LONGTERM
The People of Colour HQ Warehouse

Along with inventory and designated office space, the P.O.C. Warehouse HQ (headquarters) would be equipped with spaces for multimedia activities (photography, videography, podcast, graphic design studio, and etc), event space, basic gym and classrooms. The HQ would be a creative hub for employees, brand ambassadors, and areas available for public use.

Additionally, I want to diversify the brand as much as possible and incorporate my degree in public health by aligning ourselves with the nonprofit sector. The nonprofit program would be centered around creating community and catering to improving health conditions in low-income communities of color. Programs Include: After School Programs,  STEM Mentorship, Urban Garden, Nutrition Education, Walking/ Running Clubs, etc.
