Donation protected
Petty Officer John Small served 20 years as a United States Sailor, serving multiple tours overseas on ships such as the USS INDEPENDENCE (CV-62) in Japan. John was a kind and loving father, husband, and friend, who will be missed greatly. He sadly passed away January 5th from a heart attack and his family would appreciate any support during this hard time.
During his time in Japan, John met his wife Keiko and they married each other on December 24, 1999. John was most recently working as a government employee, Contracting Specialist for the USN at SWRMC San Diego, California. John and Keiko have three beautiful girls. Mizuki, 19 years old, is attending Cal Poly SLO as an aerospace engineering major and has dreamt to work for NASA since she was in the 4th grade, partaking in robotics clubs and teams since elementary school . Asako, 16, is an Eastlake High school junior who aspires to be in the film industry in the future. Finally, Hina, 8, is a second grader and loves gymnastics and ballet. She is also in a dual emersion program due to her love of learning about Spanish language and culture, as well as continuing to learn about her own Japanese culture, as her sisters did before, at the Japanese school, Minato. The girls all have a passion for dance, as the 2 older sisters had been a part of San Diego ballet for about 10 years, with John contributing much of his time to help the studio when he could, while Hina continues now at Neisha's dance academy.
Keiko is currently studying to be a phlebotomist and is five months from obtaining her certification, and would very much appreciate your support in the meantime. Contributions made will help pay for the memorial service and to help support the family until Keiko gains her certification. Thank you for any contribution you are willing to make, it is greatly appreciated.
