If you are able, please consider donating to the PNWSU San Diego Hardship Fund. Funds will be dispersed to PNWSU members to help offset the cost of the ULP Strike, which was authorized by a 100% vote. We will not be paid by our employer SEIU 221, where all 17 of us are full-time employees.
We staff members who are employees of SEIU 221 are ourselves members of our own union, The Pacific Northwest Staff Union (PNWSU). We collectively bargain with SEIU 221 management for a union contract to determine the terms of our employment. This year, we have been trying to negotiate a new contract. While we hoped we would reach a deal, SEIU 221 management committed multiple Unfair Labor Practices (ULPs), refusing to bargain in good faith. Despite our repeated, escalating efforts, including reducing our proposal multiple times in hopes to reach a deal and avert a strike, SEIU 221 management has continued to refuse to bargain in good faith.
As union staffers, we cannot allow SEIU 221 management to continue to violate federal labor law. 100% of PNWSU's members voted to authorize a ULP Strike to force SEIU 221's management to bargain fairly, in good faith, and according to federal labor law.
