Sudden Deafness

Hi, I'm Diamond. I'm 25 years old, and I would have never expected this would happen to me.

Last week, I lost hearing in my right ear. I woke up with my hearing completely gone. Since then, I've only regained about half of my hearing back. After seeing three doctors, my ENT diagnosed me with Sensorineural Hearing Loss. This change has been abrupt and challenging. I tried to keep myself from being devasted because I still had a good ear. However, a week after losing my hearing in my right ear, I also lost hearing in my left ear. SNHL is very unpredictable, and there is only a tiny window of time to perform treatments to restore any hearing.

I have been referred to a specialist at MUSC that is an expert in treating this and will be able to perform tests that my local ENT can't. I live 4 hours away from this hospital, and I am self-pay. The cost is steep, and because this is so unexpected and I have to act quickly, I need to raise money to cover these expenses. For me and anyone, being able to hear is essential. Dance is my greatest joy and future, and I cannot fathom not being able to listen to what my dance kids are saying to me, not hearing music or simply not being able to dance at all, as my balance has been affected by this.

This amount will cover travel expenses, the cost of the doctor visit, the price of multiple tests that will be performed, and hearing aids if my loss remains permanent.
