My name is Colton Gunther I am 21 years old my fiancé Chloe Wirsing and I recently found out some pretty bad news, I have been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma Stage 3B (Bulky). I started to feel sick back around Christmas time which was no big deal, went to the doctor, got medication and felt better. 3 months later I began to have a wet cough and went in for a check up where the doctor told me it was asthma related. June 20th I went it for the same issue and saw a different doctor and she recommended a chest X-ray. Mind you, I didn’t have insurance as I had to transition jobs because it was too hard on my physical health due to it being a manual labor job where I also came in contact with possibly harmful chemicals. I worked track maintenance for the railroad. Shortly after leaving the doctors office I received a call saying I needed to go get an emergency CT scan at the hospital. I was brought into the E.R. The hospital originally thought I had on pneumonia or a lung infection. After receiving my CT scan we found not only did I have a pneumonia infection but also a large mass in my left lung. Taking up the entirety of my left lung and some of my right lung, which is why I had such a bad cough. This led me to a 4 day hospital stay to clear my pneumonia and also get a biopsy done on the mass in my lungs so they could find out what it truly was. Within three-four days I received a call telling me I had Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. On July 1st I had my PET scan done to find out what stage as well as if it had spread anywhere else. The following day, July 2nd we discovered it was taking up more of my right lung than they anticipated, with the entirety of my left lung still. They also found that a lymph node on my neck was a concern. This was also when we discovered it to be Stage 3B. Starting July 3rd I had my first round of chemotherapy, I have to do targeted immunotherapy. My own immune system will fight my cancer with my chemotherapy. I am on some of the most intense chemotherapy for my kind of cancer. This is not the story I would like to share but this is the story the Lord has given me to share. I will not be working for a minimum of 6 months since my immune system will be extremely compromised and my job consists with working with different people on a day to day basis, I am a car salesman now. Any help of any kind is deeply appreciated. Thank you for taking the time to read my story, even something as simple as your time means the most.
