Hi, my name is Tati. I am a 34-year-old mom and a creator. After successfully directing my first film, I realize I could use the platform of art to create and tell stories that are meaningful to us all. This particular script "SAHARA," is named after my daughter. The story is based on true events, though unfortunate, I still feel blessed, and honored to have this opportunity to speak loud for the women who have not been heard. For the women who experience abuse every day.
Throughout the process, my team and I have managed to find group of talented and creative crew who are eager to work on this project. We are all filmmakers, driven by the passion of art but we are also a group of people who want to tell meaningful stories. To share raw and unpolished events of women who experience mental, psychological or physical trauma. According to https://ncadv.org/statistics 1 in every 4-woman experiences domestic violence. On average, nearly 20 people per minute are physically abused by an intimate partner in the United States. These numbers are staggering and if we think about the children growing up in these households, perhaps we will then understand why even the mass shootings are so common, why bulling is the most talked about topic in schools. I know we might not be able to solve the problem in whole, but with our passion to help, to create a speed awareness, if we are able to reach just a few hundred people, I am sure we will make a difference.
The film emphasizes highly on a mother-child relationship. With my background in psychology, I was able to pull together the material from my knowledge and experience with my children to portray the importance of listening to children. We forgot how much they can actually teach us and it's the children who hold the power, even in the household of abuse.
I ask all of you to participate in supporting us with this short film. Thankful we do have some funds from amazing friends and family, but to be able to bring this film to life, we ask for your help.
